The Night Hawk Power Bar is an excellent, budget friendly power bar option. The bar is coated in a black phosphate finish which is very sub-optimal when it comes to corosion resistance, the only thing being worse is bare steel. Corosion resistance is something that Canadians definately need to consider due to the changing climates. With that said, using a bar with a finish like black oxide, phostphate or zinc is still vialble in Canada, however more maintenance will be required. I've owned this bar for a while now and I try and give this bar a good cleaning every month to get rid of a lot of the corrosion build up. Picking up a nylon brush and some 3 and 1 oil is recommended.
The knurling on this bar is decent, however for a power barbell I was hoping for something a little more aggresive to provide a deeper grip. The knurl is comfortable to use, however for those who rely on the knurling to provide a good grip when lifting, a more aggressive knurl is recommended. I will however mention that the knurling on this bar will not compare to something from a commercial gym or a knurl from a standard barbell, this knurl is much more aggressive and if you're new to power bars, this might be something to keep in mind.
I think this bar is an excellent beginner/budget power bar that is offered at an appearling price that should satisfy most budgets. Hansu Power also offers free shipping as well, which is something to keep in mind when comparing barbells in this price point.
