Hero Heavy-Duty Flat Bench | Bells of Steel

Updated: Sep 13, 2022

Our Thoughts

The Hero Heavy-Duty Flat Bench from Bells of Steel is a monster flat bench that deserves your consideration. I have been using this bench for the past 8 months in almost every workout and it looks and functions exactly as it did the first day I got it.

This bench currently costs $399.99 on Bells of Steel’s website, but it's unfortunately out of stock at the time of posting this. In terms of competition, I think this bench is priced reasonably considering the other options from the likes of Rogue or Gorila. That said, there are definitely cheaper options if this is too far out of your price range. Bells of Steel have done a great job with the packaging. Everything came in great condition and it wasn’t missing any components, which is to be expected.

The heavy duty, 11 gauge steel construction ensures this bench will provide a solid foundation for any type of lifting. This bench weighs 86 lbs and offers a 4-point foot design which means this bench is not going anywhere and won't budge when using it. I personally prefer the 3-point foot design the best however, I understand why they elected to go with the 4-point design considering making this bench as heavy duty as possible was at the top of their priority list. I will also mention that the front foot is 16" long and the rear foot is 18" long. The matte black, textured powder coat looks awesome and will provide a small layer of protection against any type of corrosion or damage this bench may endure.

As mentioned in our video review, the pad is something that I'm a fan of. They’re offering a 4.3” thick vinyl pad from premium upholstery which is really grippy and provides a glue-like surface to lift on. The pad is more on the firm side but it's still comfortable to lift on.

Bells of Steel have also included wheels with this bench, which is quite standard. They have also included a rubber stopper which enables the kickstand feature. The kickstand feature is excellent for people in smaller spaces, as you can stand this bench up and put it in the corner when it's not being used. Lastly, there is also a BoS name plate under the bench which is purely for aesthetic purposes. It might add to the structure of this bench, but in my opinion it doesn't really need help in that department. All in all, I think this is an excellent bench that adds value to my gym and my training.

If this bench is in your budget, I think it will also do the same to you and your space. If this bench isn’t in your price range, keep in mind there are cheaper options available in Canada.

Our Review

Bells of Steel

Portable - Between the easy-grab front handle and the sturdy rear wheels, moving this heavy-duty weight bench into your power rack (or across your entire gym) is surprisingly easy. We’re not saying that you should go 4×4’ing with this bad boy, but seriously — send us a picture if you do.

Save Space - Most home gyms are in a never-ending battle between equipment and floor space. To help shift the odds in your favour, the Hero Heavy-Duty Weight Bench includes a dense rubber piece that is bolted on near the head of the bench. This means that it can be stored vertically without the pad ever being in contact with the floor.

Ultra Stable - Not much in life is more sketchy than trying to hit a bench press PR on a wobbly bench. With the Hero Heavy-Duty Weight Bench, you can kiss that worry goodbye. Weighing in at a hefty 86lbs and featuring a sturdy four-legged design, you might just slap on those extra 100lb Mighty Grip Plates after all.

Grip Gains - Forget the slick, slippery benches you’ve tried in the past. The grippy premium vinyl upholstery on the 4.3” thick pad of our heavy-duty weight bench will help you keep your arch while benching.
